Samuel Jonathan Johnson is an American musician, singer, and songwriter, who gained prominence in the 1970s with his unique blend of soul, funk, and jazz music. Johnson began his musical journey at a young age, singing in the church choir and learning to play several instruments, including the piano, trumpet, and drums. After high school, Johnson attended South Carolina State College, where he studied music education and played in the school's marching band. He also began performing in local clubs and bars, honing his skills as a musician and vocalist. In the early 1970s, Johnson moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in music. In 1978, Johnson released his debut album, "My Music," on Columbia Records. The album was a critical success, with its unique blend of soul, funk, and jazz, and Johnson's smooth, soulful vocals. The album featured the hit single "You," which reached number 28 on the Billboard R&B chart.
